Carbon Poker to Stop Rakeback January 31st
Update: Carbon Poker confirmed that this is a Merge Gaming rule that applies to all skins.
Carbon Poker has announced that they would drop rakeback on January 31, 2013. This is not the first time that Carbon Poker stopped allowing rakeback. They made the same decision in May 2011 and stopped allowing rakeback for new players on June 1, 2011. That was a network wide decision. This time is different though.
Players that received rakeback before the cutoff were allowed to keep it last time. That is not the case this time. All players that signed up for Carbon Poker with rakeback will lose it and will be moved to the VIP program on February 1st. All existing rakeback deals will be stopped to all players. All VIP Points earned through the rakeback program will expire as well so rakeback players need to spend those points by January 31st on tournament entries or they will be lost.
Carbon Poker is the first skin to come out with this news but we suspect that this news will affect all skins and all players on Merge Gaming. It seems to be almost 100% certain that there will be no more rakeback for anyone on the Merge Gaming Network starting February 1st although we have yet to confirm this with any other skins.
The Carbon Poker VIP offer will remain the same. Players will receive between 12% and 45%. Players must rake $2500 in a month to receive 45% rakeback. The average player will receive 18-23% rakeback.
Publisher Commission Structures to Change
All publishers that have Carbon Poker rakeback accounts will have those accounts converted to VIP and all rakeback players will move to that account. The VIP program commission is currently 40% of net rake. Carbon Poker deducts bonus, VIP program and all cash promotions from VIP MGR for affiliates but players do not have any deductions. Publishers that only promote the VIP offer will not be affected by this change. As of now, we expect these terms to stay the same after the change.
