EPT Deauville main event and high roller updates

EPT Deauville main event and high roller updates

Both the main event and the high roller tournament will now finish on the same day, and final tables have been formed for both. Few would have guessed the most common nationality to make the finals though.

Main event

Day 5 of the EPT Deauville main event started with 23 players, and with 8 needed for the official final table it seemed likely that affairs would be sorted out in fairly quick time. That turned out not to be the case though as after five hours of play 17 still remained in contention and a full six levels of 75 minutes each were needed to reach the required number of players.

Chip leader at the start of the day Cyril Andre lost two pots in quick succession to fellow French player Remi Castaignon, leaving Andre busted in 11th place and Castaignon as the new chip leader. From there Castaignon’s stack just kept on growing as he eliminated more players to end the day on 9,900,000 (124 big blinds.)

The British contingent in the field had looked to be in with a great shout between them at one point but none could get anything going on day 5 and the highest place finisher turned out to be James Mitchell who finished in 12th. Mitchell’s cause was not helped by the fact that he thought the dinner break was supposed to be longer than it actually was and was late back, meaning that he was blinded off in his absence. One country which had a far better day was Lebanon, which has three representatives at the final table.

When the final table resumes chip stacks will be as follows:

Remi Castaignon (France) 9,900,000

Walid Bou Habib (Lebanon) 3,835,000

Enrico Rudelitz (Denmark) 2,690,000

Noel Gaens (Belgium) 1,720,000

Joseph El Khoury (Lebanon) 1,710,000

Robert Romeo (Belgium) 1,440000

Franck Kalfon (France) 1,195,000

Jeffrey Hakim (Lebanon) 895,000

High roller event

The scheduling of EPT Deauville has had to be amended and the high roller event which was supposed to be finishing on Friday will now play out over another day and finish on the same day as the main event. Six remain in the €10,000 event, led by Swedish player Martin Jacobsen who is looking to finally get his hands on an EPT trophy. There have been some agonizing finishes to tournaments for Jacobsen including two seconds, a third and a fourth place in EPT main events. He is in a great position to finally break his duck but it’s fairly tight going into the final day and things could change very quickly.

Stacks for the final table are:

 Martin Jacobsen 1,299,000

Vojtech Ruzika 1,051,000

Alexandre Reard 943,000

Timothy Reilly 823,000

Bryn Kenney 472,000

Steven Silverman 353,000
