Inspired Gaming sells leisure division
British server-based gaming specialist Inspired Gaming Group Limited has sold its amusement and leisure division to Playnation for an undisclosed amount in a private equity-backed management buy-out.
Inspired Gaming stated that it intends to use proceeds from the sale of its Warrington-based business ‘to invest in the rapid expansion of its gaming technology business internationally’, which is growing due to a rise in government-sponsored networked gaming.
Already a leading supplier of server-based gaming slots to UK operators in addition to video lottery terminals in Italy, Inspired Gaming revealed that Playnation is led by Adam Hodges, a former Managing Director for its amusement and leisure division, and intends to invest in order to capitalise on its position as a leader in the UK high-volume and low-stakes sector.
“This is an important further step in the evolution of Inspired Gaming into a pure-play international gaming technology leader,” said Luke Alvarez, Chief Executive Officer for Inspired Gaming.
“It strengthens Inspired Gaming’s balance sheet and enables a sole focus on the fast-growing UK and international server-based gaming, virtual sports and video lottery terminal markets. It allows Playnation to leverage its unique leadership position within UK high-volume and low-stakes entertainment to invest in and grow its business.
“As part of the sale, Inspired will supply Playnation with our server-based products under a licence agreement allowing Playnation to benefit from the latest games and technology while growing our digital estate. We wish Adam and his management every success in the growth of their business.”
