Stratosphere Parent Launches Free-Play Poker Site
Like it said it would, the parent company of Las Vegas’ Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower has launched a free-play poker site before getting involved with the real-money business.
The site, which debuted Tuesday, has been named “acePlay Poker”.
American Casino & Entertainment Properties also owns other casinos in Nevada.
The company said at one of its licensing hearings that it wants to be able to “drive visitation” to its brick-and-mortar properties, as well as be able to “make dumb decisions very cheaply” by first starting with a free-play product. The whole plan was referred to as a “simple model.”
The company has asked Silver State regulators for more time on technology testing after it received a real-money Internet gaming license in September 2012.
While the real-money version would only be available to those within Nevada (pending potential state compacts), the free-play version is available across the country.
