Caesars Entertainment plans Nevada online poker offering

Caesars Entertainment plans Nevada online poker offering

Caesars Entertainment Corporation, has revealed that its Caesars Interactive Entertainment Incorporated subsidiary is expecting to launch a new real-money online poker offering using its Nevada licence and software from 888 Holdings but could later switch to a platform from Barriere.
As part of the presentation of its fourth-quarter financial results earlier this week, Gary Loveman, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President for Caesars Entertainment and CFO Donald A. Colvin, told investors that it is very likely that the new online poker enterprise would be moved onto a platform developed by French firm Barriere des Jeux after launch.
“We have the rights to use [888] software and introduce it, for example, in Nevada under what we consider to be quite reasonable terms,” said Colvin during a conference call with Wall Street analysts earlier this week.
“I would expect that when we go live in Nevada you will see us on the 888 platform.
“We also, as you recall, acquired the right to use and to customise the software platform of Barriere Digital from France. We think that [this] is a state-of-the-art platform [and] we have developers working on its modifications to suit the World Series of Poker as we speak. So at some point, when the modification is complete, we’d anticipate that we might migrate off the 888 platform onto the Barriere platform in due time.”
Las Vegas-based Caesars Interactive Entertainment signed a deal in January of 2012 to develop and deploy a ‘world standard’ online poker platform based on technology from Barriere des Jeux. However, this agreement did not cover the United States where its existing arrangement with 888 subsidiary Dragonfish was extended for an undisclosed period.
Following Tuesday’s signing by Governor Chris Christie of legislation legalising intra-state online gambling in New Jersey, Caesars Entertainment additionally revealed that it will be weighing up its options in relation to four licenses it currently holds in The Garden State.
“I am not sure four will help us given that I believe the brands that will dominate that space are Caesars and the World Series of Poker,” said Loveman.
“So, it’s not clear to me, for example, that some of the other brands have great benefits for the online business. But, of course, we have held them for all these years for their offline benefits not their online benefits so we would have to take the total package into consideration.”
