The Borgata To Offer Gambling From Hotel Beds
Not long after the web gaming industry took a giant step toward entry into the Garden State, the Borgata — the largest casino in floundering Atlantic City — announced that it will soon allow its gamblers to place bets in their hotel rooms, according to the Associated Press.
The news also comes not long after MGM Resorts International — which has a stake in the Borgata — announced that it wants to be licensed again in the state.
The Associated Press reported that the casino said it will be the first U.S. gambling joint ever to allow customers to gamble via television. Atlantic City, which also authorized mobile betting this year, has been trying to figure out new ways to make money after its overall revenue numbers started to plummet in recent years.
Nevada has allowed its brick-and-mortars to implement similar strategies. The Silver State is also out in front of New Jersey on the online gambling business, as Nevada lawmakers legalized the activity in 2011. Though, New Jersey will almost surely do so soon.
